About Us

Robogals UCalgary is a local chapter of the global, student-run organization dedicated to inspiring, engaging, and empowering young women and gender-diverse students to explore engineering, technology, and related fields. Our chapter is based at the University of Calgary, where we harness the energy and expertise of current students to make STEM learning accessible and exciting for the next generation.
We believe that increasing diversity in STEM starts with early exposure and encouragement. Through interactive workshops, hands-on robotics demonstrations, and mentorship opportunities, we show elementary and high school students how creative and impactful engineering can be. Our volunteers visit classrooms across Calgary, host on-campus events, and partner with community organizations to break down stereotypes and spark curiosity.
At Robogals UCalgary, we are proud to:

  • Deliver free workshops that guide young learners through the basics of engineering, coding, and robotics in a fun, supportive environment.
  • Collaborate with local schools and clubs to ensure that programming reaches a wide audience of students—particularly girls and underrepresented groups in STEM.
  • Offer leadership and professional development opportunities for our University of Calgary volunteers. Students gain valuable experience in teaching, team coordination, and event organization while making a tangible difference in their community.
  • Connect with the global Robogals network to share resources and best practices, ensuring our local chapter remains at the cutting edge of STEM outreach and engagement.
  • Offer an entrance scholarship to an incoming UCalgary student who embodies our mission and values.
  • Organize an annual hackathon challenging students to develop innovative technology solutions that address and promote inclusion in STEM.

By fostering a welcoming and inclusive community, Robogals UCalgary aims to inspire the next generation of diverse innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders who will shape the future of engineering and technology. We welcome anyone with a passion for education and equity in STEM to join us and help us bring positive change to our local community.
